for the next one year.. [part 3]

Ah, I guess there is a third installment! This is gonna be about where I will be after I graduate. Well, unless something else crops up, I guess the two options are either Penang or here in KL/Selangor.

Couple of considerations of which I, in my own human understanding and will, feel of importance are as follows.

Family - My brother’s permanently in China. My mom’s impermanently permanent there too. My dad’s the only one left in Penang. While I would wanna be back in Penang to be with him, there the .. second point that I am torn between.

Friends - I’ve been moving all my life, and I’m just really sick and tired of having to change my circle of friends again. I’ve grown to love some of the people here, and it’s something that I have never been able to enjoy as a child due to the circumstances that I have been in. It’s really frustrating too, having to build relationships with people again, starting from zero again. I mean, I’m comparing the situation between Penang and KL/Selangor now. Frankly, I do not have a group of friends in Penang to return to in the sense of support, true fellowship and also relationship. I doubt that there are people who look forward to my return simply because of my fellowship. I can sense that the people in Wesley Methodist Church Penang do look forward to my return, but I really wonder what they’re expecting of me. Couple of people whom I still hold fast and keep up with are people like Andrea, and another girl called MeiAi who were part of my batch last time. MeiAi’s always been in Penang, Andrea’s returning soon.

Food - Since we’re on the streak of F’s, let’s have the FOOD! I’m suffering in KL. Oh Lord, how long must I wait before I can find someone to bring me around KL/Selangor to find good food? Sigh.

Accommodation - While this isn’t such a big issue, it still is a consideration on my parent’s part. My dad still has that house in SS12, Subang Jaya that is going to be … empty as Elisa’s moving out end of this month. It’s at a good location, albeit the horrendous traffic situation there. Nonetheless, it’s landed property and my brother and I have sentimental values for it. I think I was “made” there. Wonder if my brother was too, causing that sentiment to be in place. Hehe. It’ll be good if I were to stay back and upkeep the house too. Penang isn’t a bad place to stay at all too!

Work - Penang has really good prospects for engineers. I don’t know about the situation in KL/Selangor. Still finding it out.

Aiyah, a lot of considerations. I know that I am supposed to be surrendering my plans and my future to God though He already has it in the palm of His hands, though I can’t help but to .. wanna find out. And yeah. Also put in a few requests. Hehe. I don’t know. I guess, when the time comes, it comes. Jsut have to be prepared for it!

I guess that’s all for .. my tri-part “next one year” blog entry.

Maybe you can invite your dad to come back over to KL and stay, if you wanna stay in KL but not leave your dad alone

Yup. That’s one alternative. But then, what would happen to the apartment in Penang? Plus, I think he’s more comfortable in Penang.

    d00d,

Signed up for Package 75 also just now..pretty hassle free :)

Since there’s free GPRS service (but not for data download), have u tried it yet?

  4. 4 DavidLee

I’ve always had the GPRS, even on Hotlink. Er, the data download is very expensive, compared to DiGi. I used to use it for IM when I didn’t have any internet connection in the place I was before this, so it’s quite okay. I connect my Palm to my phone, and use the GPRS.

One warning though. I just got caught out! The RM75 is prorata-ed. Don’t know if you’ll be billed the same day as I am, but I had the impression that they would bill me on the end of the month [ or somewhere there ], but mana tahu, I was billed on the 17th. So, my bill for this 17 days is RM72, even though I used up RM55. Now that I know, I guess the “end of the month” for my phone credit is the 17th… so I will be using up the calls till about RM75. Only then, I am paying for the amount of calls made. Get the logic? Hmm…

My logic for this plan is to use up to RM75, before the billing date, so that I am fully utilizing the RM75.. then it’s worth it mah, because of the prorata rate. (RM75/30 days*amount of days for billing)+RM5(itemised billing)=total bill. So, was caught out. If you want to be billed end of the month, you could change your billing date to the 28th. Do it before your first bill comes. Actually, you should do it now.

I signed up on the 30th, and assumed that I would be billed from that date. You can change your billing date over the phone, by calling 123 and speaking to the customer service.

I’m waiting for my first bill to come, to see if everything’s in place.

    Dude,

ATB for the exams tmr :)

Btw, I was thinking about your pro-rata thing, if you’ve only used for 17 days that comes up to RM2.50 * 17 days = RM42.50! How did they charge you RM72?

Btw if you register to pay your bills online you can get a RM5 rebate, which is cool because it will offset the itemised bill’s charges :P

Also found out that call charges include SMS and GPRS as well, even though it wasn’t stated in the website.

Well gotta use it for a month to see how much I need to under/overtalk in order to make full use of the 75 bucks!

Yaler. I have to see the bill first ler. Then thing is, if you cancel itemised billing, you won’t have any information about your calls, not even ONLINE. I’ve checked that out liau.

Yeap. The house. Apart from sentimental value, I think it has the best ‘interior’ design among all the houses that we’ve stayed in. The floor tiles was superb, and the wall paint actually matched. I would have picked this design over the one in Penang, maybe even the house itself.

Remember the ‘circle of friends in Penang’ discussion we had? Yours will still be larger than mine but it’s the comfort and warmth that’s lost.

  20. 20 eelxela

    Oh yeah.

    Happy Birthday, Dad.

  21. 21 DavidLee

Yeah, I remember that conversation. Don’t know lah. Haigh.
