scariest sight…

I’ve just seen the scariest sight in my life so far. On Jalan University, just past the UM PJ gate heading towards the Samad roundabout. A guy went airborne after being knocked by a car. He must have been thrown about 20 metres far, and 6 feet high, the least.

"Oh God."

I couldn’t say anything else. I prayed in my heart that he’ll be alright, that his family would be comforted. As I drove on, my heart ached. Images of it are still running in my head. I can only hope for the best. It didn’t look good at all.

blessings come from above!

I just wanted to share a little some thing here. Yesterday, I blessed someone with RM10, as he didn’t have enough change for me. Today, I got blessed 10 fold! That’s 10*RM10 = RM100! Praise God!

Lord I thank You for placing great leaders above me, great people around me, and great people who serve with me. I recognize the importance of blessing others. Blessings have to flow down from the top to the bottom of the leadership, and to the members and to the community. Father, teach me to be a good steward of the money that I have and allow me to bless others too, as the blessings that has come upon me today. Thank You Lord!

PS: A couple of people commented that I look better with this haircut. Ehehe … *shy

amazed, Lord.

Amazed - Jared Anderson

You dance over me
While I am unaware
You sing all around
But I never hear the sound

Lord I’m amazed by You
Lord I’m amazed by You
Lord I’m amazed by You
How You love me

How wide
How deep
How great
Is Your love for me

This is one of the simplest songs I’ve ever come across, and it just blows my mind how anointed this song is. It just blows my mind.

Thank You Lord for being the inspirer of man to write song as such that helps us express ourselves to You. Lord, I am amazed. No words can express our gratitude, but that of which silence in reverent awe we bring to You. Your love, no one can know how wide, how deep, how long, and how high.. No one. Amen.

In awe,

David

the high calling to discipleship..

Cell Leaders’ Retreat over the long weekend was great. I was able to breakaway from the tyranny of idleness that’s been ruling over me for the past month. The use of the word tyranny defined at dictionary.com to describe the idleness in my life is pretty apt. My free time has eaten into me, obviously doing more damage than any good, on contrary to what many have commented/perceived. I guess I’m not someone who can stay in bed or hide at home all day 5 days a week, over a period of a few weeks.

Ever felt as though your free time governs what you do? As opposed to having control of my free time, I am being led away by it with various degenerating activities like staying up late; watching DVDs, movies and hanging out on the internet, waking up late; missing the devotion@8 shows and MOST of the time, totally missing shows! To some, they wouldn’t complain at all if they had a lifestyle like this; some might be cursing/hissing at me for feeling remorseful over this issue but I realize that it’s not a lifestyle that God has called me to live. In fact, it’s not a lifestyle that He would approve.

The retreat was an eye opener for me, as I began to understand the high calling of discipleship. Sessions after sessions, God would impress something upon my heart, and convict me of my ignorance in that area. The discussion sessions were especially good for me to ask further questions regarding those principles that were shared, and those that God has placed in my heart during the teaching session.

Things that really challenged, convicted and called of me:

1. The definition of discipleship

A disciple is one who has made a life-long commitment to follow Jesus Christ with determination, discipline and self-denial, to grow increasingly in His knowledge through His written Word, and to become more and more like Him in life and service with the help of the Holy Spirit until he meets with Christ and becomes like Him.

- Dr. Benjamin George from “Quit being a Sunday Christian

2. Are we to be convicted to do things all the time, which only then we do it? No. If you do it out of genuine love, the conviction has already come in the form of God’s Word, and His commandments.

3. The 5 P’s of life. A form of progression in life, where you are to first work on the personhood, then a proclaimer and so on. Different stages of life calls of us to be successful in those areas. Of course, they’re all collectively worked on..

Personhood
Proclaimer
Provider
Partner
Parent

4. From the 5 L’s of life, life’s purpose, life’s goals, life’s calling, life’s work and life’s message; life’s work supports the life calling. Life’s calling is what God has calls us to do in ministry, and our life’s work is the job that provides the support to the ministry.

5. Servant Leadership

A New Testament servant is …

One who willingly yields his life, rights, possesions, talents, hopes failures, family, future and all that he is, will be and has, to Jesus in order to serve Him and His will day and night. It is a free-will choice to follow His directions about everything and fulfill His will totally.

A New Testament Leader is …

A leader is a person who intentionally and humbly serves others as they lead them in God’s path of life. A leader also helps others find and develop their God-given talents and abilities in order to fulfill their God-given place in His body so that they can use their gifts and talents to release their maximum potential for the benefit of others thay will serve and lead. And because leaders serve, others will follow them naturally.

As all these have been planted in my spirit, I know that it’s inline with my personal mission now at this moment of time.. So, I’m not sesating or going the extreme..! Haha. Initially, all these seemed kinda impossible and radical.. but as I looked and chewed upon it I realize that God doesn’t call us to all of this AT ONE GO. It’s a life-long process, so … it isn’t all that scary.

PS: Oh, I’ve added something new on my blog. See if you can find it. It’s kinda obvious.

in search of egg tarts…

Went to the tai chau place at Sri Petaling again, with the CF bunch this time. This time, I was able to get some egg tarts from the Tong Kee Brother’s Confectionary shop, the one that Val recommended.

eggtarts.jpg

Don’t they look heavenly? I had early this morning, while watching Smallville, season 3. Just downed the other two a few moments ago. I’d have to say that it’s one of the more, interesting egg tarts that I’ve had so far. The crust is kinda flaky, not too solid, but just enough to hold the tart together. The egg in the middle is really really soft and it holds itself together, not falling off like others which are baked till you could see small bits and pieces when you bite into it. It’s not very sweet, so it isn’t very appealing to me, though I do sometimes appreciate things that way.

It’s on the pricey side though. RM1 each. I’ve encountered egg tarts that come a little cheaper.. and taste a little sweeter. So yeah. You be the judge. Unless you’re easily contented and a moderate food lover, I don’t think you’ll find this egg tart superb.

back to my first love…

For the past 6 months, I’ve had the opportunity to have a couple of PDAs in possession. One of them is the Sony Clie UX50, in which AlexC so generously lent to me. I had loadsa fun setting it up, though I couldn’t get the WiFi working with my home WiFi AP. The other PDA that I have [ still with me now ] is the iPaQ 3870, which belongs to DannyTan. Hmm.. it was a problematic PDA with battery issues, so I offered to try and open it up and see what I could do with it. Alas, I don’t have the right tools to do it, so I’ve left it somewhere in my room collecting dust.

The time has come to give it all back. Give to Caesar, what belongs to Caesar! Haha. I’ve just passed the UX50 back to AlexC yesterday night, when we had dinner at Dragon I. Thanks for the dinner, Alex. Enjoyed it very much! Planning to return the iPaQ later, during prayer meeting.

As for the title of this blog entry, I am returning to my first love.. the Tungsten|T. Actually, it’s like my … 5th or 6th love, since it’s my 5th or 6th PDA that I’ve owned. Haha. Anyhow, I’m reverting back, with new plans for it! Almost done setting it up fully. Look forward to a full swing with it in this week. Scheduling and all ler. :)

sri petaling “tai chau”

Oh praise God! To GOD BE THE GLORY!! I’ve finally found a place where I can EAT PROPERLY at a reasonable price! Was out with Val last night after my game of tennis with a guy named Lau. It was about late 9-ish when I met Valerie near her place. I wanted to have rice, so she brought my to this tai chau place just opposite Hotel Sri Petaling. Sat for a short while, and to my absolute surprise, the food came after less than 15 minutes of ordering! I ordered kung pou youk fan and she got the fookkien meen for herself.. The portions came out larger than I’ve ever had! Man, you couldn’t count the pieces of meat in the rice! And it was SUPERB. I tell you, this kung pou youk fan is better than anywhere that I have had! After finishing my rice with my face full of perspire, I had to finish 4/5ths of Val’s fookkien meen! We had two shuit chahs and all of it came up to RM9.60!!!! So worth it man! Another plus point about this place is that it opens till late! I mean, when we were there, we ate till about 11pm! And I observed that there were still people taking seats at tables and ordering fooD! Good for irregular meal-takers like me. Well, I’m irregularly, irregular with my meals. If you know what I mean.

I will never eat tai chau in Cheras EVER again

I really won’t! Now, to recommend to all the other outstation students! Muahahahaha..! She also showed me a couple of more places to makan. MMMMMMmmm..

David[woohoo!]

PS : Ah, Val also recommended egg tarts from one of the shops, but they ran out. That’s a good indication that their egg tarts are good. Ahaha. We both also recalled the egg tart entry that I posted some time ago.
