lonely sushi

I was going up the escalator minding my own business when the corner of my eye caught the sight of a good looking lady sitting at the sushi conveyer server. She had a look of melancholy strewn over her face. She was sitting alone, and that fact really stood out.

Hehe, lonely sushi.

what are friends for?

Someone said this to me today. What ARE friends for? I thought about it, but found reasons too vast to expound. I couldn't break out of my current situation, so I am only relating this moment's answer to the question…

What are friends for?

I guess for this current particular situation, it's the recognition of all the effort, consideration, the time and money that they see, and putting in a good word for me. Just that.

7 hours on the road…

… is quite a lot.

I started from my apartments in Penang at 8am with my parents. Had breakfast, went to my late grandfather's place at Medan York and set off after that. North South Highway, Duta Tol, Istana and Jln Loke Yew to Cheras. Brought my parents to the famous Sun Ming Duck Rice shop and they liked it. Then we headed to Seremban Highway which intersects the highway to KLIA and off they went to the new LCC [Low Cost Carrier] Terminal for Air Asia flights. Interesting route. Drove back with me dad's Perdana V6 alone. Suddenly, I felt the weight of responsibility. If something happens, there's no one to bail me out! Hahaha. Exaggerating again.

Got to rest at SS15, Subang Jaya as I dropped in on Oasis [formerly known as Eagles' Nest]. Man, It was very "refreshing" to "see" the place again. Cuci mata session, hehe. Where were all the pretty girls when I was around? Gosh. Caught up a little bit with Adrian and Seng Yee who was bumming, as usual. Gosh, I miss that place. The good times that we had. Speaking of good times, guess who's in town? Jonathan Tse. It was good to see him .. before I see him again in Sabah in two weeks time. Showed me some cool chords which I am gonna get working on! Woohoo.

I'm now safely back in my room, preparing myself mentally by resting and posting an entry. Preparing for what? I'm moving out. Gonna collect some boxes from Victor [who-was-over-in-Penang-over-the-weekend-which-I-didn't-mention-here-in-this-blog], and start packing. Moving my stuff to my aunt's place in Klang for the time being. Moving out from here, but not moving in to any place yet. Will do so only in July, a I'll be away for most of June.

Busy busy weekend. Have a good one! Oh wait .. it's not the weekend yet. Have a good week then.

my mom’s great

She’s just awesome. She made this! Check it out.

Ain’t it beautiful? And there’s only one in the whole wide world. Only one.

sneezing induced hunger

I kinda wonder if there is such condition.

Earlier, I sneezed about 20 times in a row and felt starved immediately after. I was hungry to the point of actually driving out to mamak and eating a dinner's portion of food. Even after showering for bed. Took some rice, a chicken drumstick, mutton, egg, and vegetable. And a glass of milo ais. Hmm…if I ever lose my appetite, I can now just disturb my sensitive nose and get chomping immediately. Of course, I'd have to go through the sneezing part first. Gah.

Now I'm stuffed and I don't think I'll be in bed anytime soon. Hmm…

what’s a man gotta do to enjoy his cuppa frappuccino?

Following the bumming post earlier today .. I came down the stairway of the Hang Tuah KL Monorail station down to the Hang Tuah STAR LRT station and as I was going to land my Touch N Go card at the gate, some guy who works at the station called out to me and started speaking to me in Malay. I was in the daze the whole day, so it took me some time to catch what he said.

"Habiskan air itu dulu.

"Kenape?" I asked. He told me that drinks were prohibited on the train and same goes for food. I was surprised that he actually stopped me and asked me to finish my drink before I was allowed to go through to the platform. Taken aback, I asked him why it was so and he pointed at the stickers that indicated that no food or drinks allowed on the platform. I mean, how absurd is that? Hundreds of thousands of people use the LRT everyday, and thinking of the possiblity of not one of them eating or drinking on the train .. it's insane! And here I am, getting held back from entering the platform. Mind you, I have to finish 3/4 of my icy chocolate banana frappuccino at some obsecure LRT station at dusk?

Dissatisfied, I walked back and said, "Saya tak cadang untuk habiskan minuman saya begitu cepat. Kalau saya berjanji tak akan tumpah, boleh saya masuk?" He looked at me and started yakking about how when it gets packed, you might stumble or fall and accidentally spill it on someone's clothes, or how it'll be dirty if you dropped it. HEY, I'm holding a frappuccino! It's ICE-BLENDED! And it has a spill-free cover on it! See? *tilts it on its side

GAH. He directs me to the people at the counter, who was more helpful and empathic to the frappuccino by offering me a plastic bag to cover/conceal my specially made, illegal RM14.90 chocolate banana frappuccino.

I carefully placed it upright in my Jansport daypack and smirked at the guy who stopped me.

What's a man gotta do to enjoy his cuppa frappuccino?

When I got off the LRT, my frappuccino was unenjoyable anymore. Sigh.

last I bummed …

I had no recollection of it.

Today was the first time I bummed in a long while. Like, really bummed. Walked around aimlessly, strolled everywhere my two feet could take me, looked at everything that caught my two eyeballs.

Well, first half of the day didn’t involve bumming at all. I had to rush the printing of the CF bookmarks, aligning them and all. That was a stressful time, as I wanted to get it done [and it was expected to, by the relevant authorities] in the morning. I was also at the same time making some changes and planned to finish uploading, setting up and embedding Gallery2 into the GTYAC.COM website which I am working on right now. I ran into some problems, and one word of advice when you select an operating system for your hosting: NEVER EVER go with WINDOWS. It’s like a fork stuck in the rud. [-greenday]

I got out of the house, handed the documents up to the relevant authorities who after what I’ve done for them, had the nerve to demand a dance from me!! How dare they! Just kidding. I went off to take lunch, park my car at the LRT station and made my way to Puduraya to get some bus tickets back to Penang. VictorNg’s coming up with me to meet his dream girl. Hmm.. I think. Whooops, did I just say that? Awww.

After hunting for and spending some time at the famous music shop Woh Fatt at Kotaraya, I decided to take a walk on Petaling Street, when I thought of YinSoon who’s college was nearby. It was tea time, so we had pan meen and some hamm cheem paeng. We caught up a bit and realized the truth about our shared sentiments regarding our cell groups. Told him that I’ve finished and going to Sabah for a holiday. We’ll meet then.

Since I was in the area, I thought I’d drop by the guitar shop at Times Square to see if they had any new Taylor guitars on display. Indeed, they did. I spent about 30 minutes .. just testing all of them, even the Big Baby Taylor. Was fun. Spoke a bit to the friendly guy who we met the first time Andrew and I went to the shop and asked him if there was anything worth seeing at Times Square. He couldn’t really provide any indication of anything good, really. So I decided to walk around and see it for myself if his point was true.

And I did. Most of the part. I’d name three shops beside the guitar shop that I walked into that caught my attention, knew was worthwhile checking out, and would benefit me in some way. First was this gift shop where I bought this cute little thing.

I just knew I had to buy it for Jo. It’s so cute, don’t ya think? It’s a little magnetic thing, and it’s soft and nice to hold!

Second was Borders Bookstore. Man it was huge. I can’t remember the last time I walked into a bookstore. Really. Hmm.. Anyhow, that’s beside’s the point. So, being a true blue Malaysian, I picked up a book and sat on one of them couches and read away. Spent about an hour there too. Finished looking through some books, even a The Essential Calvin and Hobbes comic book. Comfy seats, by the way. Walked down to the next floor and found another interesting book. The title was .. I can’t remember. Seriously. I mean, I can’t remember the title of the book. Hahaha.

Then I turned to the back and there was Starbucks, right inside Borders. That sparked the temptation to splurge on expensive crushed ice. I walked down to the Starbucks near the entrance, which now would serve to be an exit. I saw a poster that promoted the new chocolate mocha frappuccino and I thought I’d give it a try. Asked if it was any good, and he asked me if I was good with mocha. I told him that I preferred and usually took the chocolate frappuccino and he suddenly had this cheeky smile on his face. He then went, “I’ll get you the illegal one“. Whow, that sounded dodgy.

I’ll make you a chocolate banana frappuccino.

When I heard that last 3 words, I was rejoicing. Those are my favourite flavours. And my favourite sensation. ICY. It wasn’t on the poster and therefore not offered. Funny. Well, at least for the first time ever, I didn’t hear that corny American slanged phrase that usually goes,”One name-your-coffee-with-cream-or-not, with whipped cream!” being yelled after an order was made. Must be the illegal thing they got going there. I walked out with a special made illegal regular sized RM14.90 crushed ice with my favourite flavours. Made my way back then.

Bumming. It’s expensive … sometimes.

officially done

Ah, I had my interview for the grading of my final year project by the external moderators of the university yesterday. That marked my last piece of dealing with the university and I am officially done at UCSI. The only thing left to attend is the convocation which will be on the 22nd of July.

The interview was a breeze, the interviewer was cool. Came out in less than 15 minutes, I think. Anyhow, I've got some errands to run while I am here in KL. Will be leaving for Penang on Saturday, 20th of May. Will be back couple of days later. Till then.

menggatal?

Hmm.. it seems like I’ve been prescribed the itchy pills. Take two at night, to “itch”. Hehehe.

vastness of the sky

Here’s a couple of pictures I’ve taken while I was in Penang. The sky’s been pretty nice these couple of days. Here are 2 shots.

The sun was blazing behind those clouds.

Twin rainbows! Caught on my dad’s camera. Mine ran out of battery. Gah. The other one’s not so obvious. Just a hint.
