Missions Trip to India

“India? Of all places?”

Sometimes, I ask God that. Every single time the thought crosses my mind, I remember how God brought about the opportunity and the providence for this trip.

It all began with this phrase I said in Cell one day:

It’s funny how I am able to pick up Tamil words easily. Maybe God wants to send me to India.

God has the funniest way of catching us on our words. It may seem funny, but deep down .. you know God’s placed that ability, planted that seed there, and one day when it surfaces we think God sprung us a surprise.

SURPRISE!

I remember the Thursday, I decided in my heart to NOT buy a camera (Panasonic Lumix FX50) but to put the money in for the building pledge I committed early last year. The amount I committed was a month’s salary. That same Saturday, Ps. Julie spoke on missions, and someone came up to me after that service, asking if he could sponsor me on a missions trip to India.

SURPRISE!

The cost of the trip was a month’s salary.

SURPRISE!

A year after, having gone through MEP (Missions Exposure Program) here I am planning for the trip. We’re leaving on the 4th of July, and will be back on the 14th of July. We’ll be going to these 2 places, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (I think). Reading Wikipedia’s pages on India right now to learn more about the country, after realizing that I know so little about the country. They’re highlighted in bright green, number 1 and 24.

The India Team, consisting of Michael Tang, Cecilia, Tina, an Indian sister (can’t remember her name), Jeremy Tan, Liz and myself met last Tuesday night for prayer and preparation, will continue to do so for the next 3 weeks before we fly off.

Pray for us, yeah? Will keep you guys updated.
