Yesterday, Liz asked me what I want for my birthday .. and I gave it thought.
I’ve considered the Nokia E71 long and hard, and worked out the money I can gather to buy the phone, but at the end of the day, I realize that it would NOT be prudent nor wise use of RM1,999 (or a little cheaper).
After my trip to India, I realize there’s so much need in the world that EVEN with my little offering and pledge to God and His kingdom CAN bring about change in His ways. So much so that leisure holidays/getaways for my own benefit seem so trivial, selfish and conceited.
I definitely can’t bear putting down a large sum of money for something that I already have which is equally functional albeit missing all the bells and whistles just because I want it. But when I do need it, it’s a different requirement altogether.
But if we really look at our closets, cupboards, storerooms, house, garage, office desks .. can we safely say that we NEED all that stuff?
I know I can’t.
Don’t go throwing all those stuff out, cause that’s not so wise either … but personally, I think it’s important for me to really consider the actual need of purchasing something with consideration to whether the money can be used for greater purpose.
I don’t think I’ll be getting the Nokia E71 anytime soon.
