iPhone in Malaysia

Guess who played with the iPhone in Malaysia? Sure, I’m not the first Malaysian to have touched it, but I beat ALL the rest of you? :p

It’s all that it claims to be, an uber cool, souped-up iPod video with phone capabilities. The multi-touch screen is amazing to use, zooming in and out of webpages were seamless, though yeah, you’d have to constantly adjust the page to get a smooth flow when you’re reading. The resolution on the screen was amazing, as I could watch a TopGear video on the Ferrari F430 using the YouTube application built-in to the iPhone.

Amazing.

Here are some shots of the dunggu with an iPhone:

So much for anonymity!

If you could see, I pulled up my blog on the iPhone Safari application. Pardon the quality of shots, as it was from a camera phone. Still haven’t bought my Panasonic Lumix FZ50 yet. :p

These are the two cameras I’ve been weighing, and I think I’ve decided on one.

Ah girl suggested that we buy the camera together, but .. I kinda declined cause yeah .. don’t need la. I think I have enough to cover. Plus, it’s my own hobby ..

I’m planning to go back to photography. Especially with the new developments in my life, I would really want to capture as much as I can so that one day, when I’m too old to remember .. I have some slideshows to help.

So it begins .. my search for the camera!

Guess which one I’ve decided on!

WT4000

We’re having a seminar at Hyatt Saujana, Subang tomorrow, and guess what David’s gonna be displaying? No, nothing of the lewd nature.

Check this out!

The WT4000. Coupled with RS409, the Ring scanner.

Don’t mess .. I BEAM you AR!

Runs on Windows CE 5.0.

The wrist strap. My forearm is so thin .. I … almost had to go another round. Kidding. It’s adjustable!

Ain’t it cool? I’ve always wanted something like this as a toy. Costs a whopping RM1X,XXX though. A very expensive toy, no? :p Have been reading up on it, and learning as much as I can before I get the missiles from customers, managers, and directors tomorrow. Woohoo. I thrive on the equivocality of enquiries that will come tomorrow.

Ahhh.

O2 Mini

One of the highlights of last week was that I bought myself an O2 Mini. It’s been a far cry of mine to come back to the world of gadgets, and finally .. it has come true. A dear friend of mine, AlexNg first showed it to me 3 weeks ago .. and I got hooked. I couldn’t get it my mind off it. Then I came across a cell member .. who had the same phone. I asked him if he was thinking of selling it .. and he really was! He said that trading it in would get him RM600 off the next purchase but that’s a highly unreasonable amount. So he decides to look for another shop.

I then told him my intentions of getting an O2 Mini .. and he asked me to check the price for a second hand one and propose to him a reasonable price. So I did .. and after a little discussion, the phone exchanged hands!

Alex gave me a list of recommended programs to install and to help it become breezy in its operation and so far, I haven’t had much problems with it. Sometimes .. it hangs .. but well, what doesn’t, aye? Couple of reasons why I bought it:

  • I need to organize my life. It’s been too long .. going on fuzzy memory of what I should and shouldn’t do. Haven’t managed as well as I thought I could.
  • It syncs with Microsoft Outlook, and my work utilizes it extensively.
  • Better get it now and build my contacts upon it before it’s too late and there are too many contacts to key in.
  • Since I have an extra phone line covered by the company, so … get the phone la.

I’m officially on the dark side now. Who would’ve thought?

I called unto Him, and He answered!

When was the last time you had a prayer answered in a day? Well, my prayer today was answered. It’s still has not fully come to pass, but I still wanna share it!

Powering the RFID module

Do you see the light?

That is a sign that the RF transmitter on the RFID module I am using is working! And on top of that, I figured out the problem of which the MAX232N chip isn’t working to interface the module with my PC. It’s gotta be supplied with a NEGATIVE voltage, in which was NOT exactly shown on the demonstration circuit provided by Texas Instruments in the Series 2000 Micro-Reader Module datasheet! GAH! Misled for so long.

I met my lecturer yesterday, and all that he requires of me is to retrieve some results of reading and writing to the transponder, and it is sufficient. That’s all I need in the report. Speaking of which, I have been stuck at home writing it up. Here’s a screenshot of the pages I’ve written. GAH!

Clicky, and you will see! The so many!

I’m going nuts. Praise God.

PS : I covet your prayers. Thanks.

laptop’s new brain

My HDD failed on me. Thank God I was able to back my data up, most importantly my studies-related files, and then the rest like my music, and movies. I’ve just spent the last couple of hours setting my laptop back to it’s original setting, and I suspect it’ll take some more hours before I am able to reach full productivity again. Chat with me online when you see me, kay?

I’ve gotta go. Will continue updating and installing later. CLASS!

fried no more!

A couple of weeks back, my Linksys wireless router went dead. The lights were not blinking, and my computer couldn’t detect it. It was funny though. It was not raining, and neither were there lightning. It was broad daylight. The funniest thing was that the router and modem were connected to the same power bar, but only my router shorted out. The modem was still happily blinking [or not, as the router was disconnected already] away. I was very sad because when I bought the router, I had planned it to be a long term purchase .. because it’s so handy and convenient. Wireless and all.

Ever since then, I’ve had to camp outside at the hall on the dining table to go online, connected to the modem via ethernet cable. Gah, the inconveniences! Being outside meant I couldn’t surf comfortably in my own room, have that privacy that I am used to, and worst of all, there were ants crawling over my laptop! Ants are the worst.

Thankfully, after plugging in the adapter which has an adjustable voltage rating that I bought yesterday for my project, I found that it wasn’t my router that was fried. It was just the adapter. Imagine the joy it brought to my heart. I was so happy to see the lights blinking again. Praise God.

I’m gonna go buy an adapter later today. And keep my adjustable voltage adapter for my project. Ehehe.

TI Series2000 RFID Module

Speaking of fried electronics, I’ve got this fear that is gripping me. I’m working on an electronics project, and it requires a power source. With the RM270 RFID module shown above … I’m afraid that if ever I make a mistake of connecting it wrongly, it’ll fry that small module! Sigh.

I know some people back in Penang have been praying for me. Thank you very much. I’m beginning to see little little breakthroughs in my project, and I’m convinced of the power of your prayers. Thanks again! You know who you are!

MEGA PISSED

The seller backed out on the sale of a G4 1GHz 15″ Titanium PowerBook with SuperDrive, 60GB HDD, 512MB RAM, built-in wireless Apple laptop for RM4500. Wasted 1 week of anticipation and dreams. Middleman could have done a better job securing the deal for me. Eeesh.

back to my first love…

For the past 6 months, I’ve had the opportunity to have a couple of PDAs in possession. One of them is the Sony Clie UX50, in which AlexC so generously lent to me. I had loadsa fun setting it up, though I couldn’t get the WiFi working with my home WiFi AP. The other PDA that I have [ still with me now ] is the iPaQ 3870, which belongs to DannyTan. Hmm.. it was a problematic PDA with battery issues, so I offered to try and open it up and see what I could do with it. Alas, I don’t have the right tools to do it, so I’ve left it somewhere in my room collecting dust.

The time has come to give it all back. Give to Caesar, what belongs to Caesar! Haha. I’ve just passed the UX50 back to AlexC yesterday night, when we had dinner at Dragon I. Thanks for the dinner, Alex. Enjoyed it very much! Planning to return the iPaQ later, during prayer meeting.

As for the title of this blog entry, I am returning to my first love.. the Tungsten|T. Actually, it’s like my … 5th or 6th love, since it’s my 5th or 6th PDA that I’ve owned. Haha. Anyhow, I’m reverting back, with new plans for it! Almost done setting it up fully. Look forward to a full swing with it in this week. Scheduling and all ler. :)
